WooCommerce plugin

If you run WooCommerce you probably do not need to write any code. The plugin does rates, the town picker, booking and tracking for you.

Download the plugin

Always the latest release. Requires WooCommerce 7.0+, WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 7.4+.

Install it

  1. Download the zip above.
  2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file and install.
  3. Activate it.
  4. Open WooCommerce → Settings → Shipping → SendWay.
Upload the zip exactly as downloaded. Unzipping it first and uploading the loose files is the usual reason an install looks broken.

Connect it

  1. Create an API key on the developers page. Start with a test key — the whole flow runs without a parcel being collected or anything charged.
  2. Paste it into the settings screen. It is checked as you save, so a bad paste fails there rather than at a customer's checkout.
  3. Set your collection address and its coordinates — right-click your shop in Google Maps to get them.
  4. Add SendWay as a shipping method in the zone covering Kenya.

Turn on delivery updates

So orders complete themselves when a parcel is collected, register the webhook URL shown on the settings screen:

Register it with SendWay (see webhooks), then paste the signing secret back into the settings. Without the secret, updates are rejected — which is deliberate: an unsigned endpoint would accept anything anyone sent it.

Going live

Place a practice order with the test key first. Test parcels are labelled in the admin so nobody mistakes one for a real delivery. When you are happy, swap in a live key — nothing else changes.

Updating

The download link above always gives you the newest release, so grab it again and upload it over the old one — WordPress will offer to replace it. We are working towards a listing on WordPress.org so updates arrive the usual way.

What it does

  • Real rates at checkout, priced on destination and cart weight.
  • A town picker grouped by county, from the live network — a town we open appears without you updating anything.
  • Automatic booking when an order reaches the status you choose.
  • Tracking on the order page, in the customer's account and in the completed-order email.
  • Pay-on-delivery reconciled — an order note records what was collected, the fee and what was credited.

If SendWay is ever unreachable the plugin simply offers no rate and your other shipping methods carry on. It will not block your checkout.
