SendWay API

Collect parcels from your shop in Nairobi and deliver them to pickup points in 80 towns across Kenya — from your own checkout, dashboard or software.

The API is REST over HTTPS. Requests and responses are JSON, authentication is a bearer key, and everything works in a sandbox before it touches a real parcel.

Every path on this site is relative to that. The v1 is frozen: we add fields and endpoints, but we do not remove or rename anything under it.

What you can do

  • Price a parcel before your customer pays, so the delivery fee at your checkout is the real one.
  • Let the customer pick their town from the live list of pickup points.
  • Book the parcel when the order is ready — no copying addresses into another system.
  • Track it, and get pushed an update the moment it moves.
  • Reconcile pay-on-delivery, including what was collected and what was credited to you.

How a parcel travels

  1. Your customer checks out and picks the town they will collect from.
  2. You book the parcel. Nothing is charged at this point.
  3. A rider comes to your shop and collects everything you have booked, in one go.
  4. You approve a single M-Pesa prompt for that whole batch.
  5. The parcel travels to the destination town; your customer collects it with a PIN.

You may not need this API at all. The SendWay plugin does checkout rates, the town picker, booking and tracking for you. Write code only if you are building something the plugin does not cover.
